Barbara Hunt-Elkins is a licensed clinical social worker with over 30 years experience treating individuals, couples and families in psychotherapy. Her treatment approach focuses on the use of cognitive behavioral therapy within a psychodynamic and family systems framework.

She specializes in helping couples and families achieve healthier relationships, better communication, and more effective coping skills. She also treats individual adults and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, grief, and eating disorders. She has extensive experience in brief problem focused therapy as well as longer term, more intensive psychodynamic work. Many of her clients are high functioning, professional couples in stressful careers, who are trying to balance the demands of their profession with their individual needs and those of their family.

Barbara Hunt-Elkins has helped many couples achieve closer, more intimate relationships, even after the trauma of infidelity. Her clients describe her as non-judgmental, understanding, and supportive. She describes herself as direct and active, engaging clients in a collaborative therapy process. With her assistance, clients are able to develop the skills necessary to improve their lives personally and professionally.

She is a trusted resource and collaborator for other therapists and health professionals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In addition, she has taught and supervised many other professionals and has presented locally and nationally on her work with individuals, couples, and families.
